The Solace Clinic provides a private FibroScan® service in Maroochydore for the non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis and steatosis.
The scan is performed and interpreted by the same clinician, with a report issued to the referring doctor on the day of the appointment.
FibroScan® uses vibration-controlled transient elastography, known as VCTE, to measure liver stiffness. Liver stiffness measurements can help assess the presence and severity of liver fibrosis.
The scan also provides a controlled attenuation parameter, known as CAP, which measures fat within the liver. FibroScan is a quick, non-invasive and painless examination that does not require radiation or sedation.
The Solace Clinic offers VCTE for the assessment of liver fibrosis and controlled attenuation parameter measurement for hepatic steatosis.
The scan is performed and interpreted by the same clinician. A report is issued to the referring doctor on the day of the appointment.
Fibroscan® is the most extensively validated
non-invasive test of liver fibrosis, across
alcohol-related, metabolic, viral and other
aetiologies. Australian primary care guidance
recommends Fibroscan® as the second-line
test after an indeterminate or elevated FIB-4
test in the primary care management of MAFLD.

By years of life lost, chronic liver disease ranks 4th at ages 35–49, 3rd at 50–59 and 4th at 60–64 – ahead of bowel cancer and COPD across most of that range. But unlike most of the conditions above it on that list, it is largely silent until it is advanced.
