Dr Sorab Shavaksha is a Clinical Haematologist in full-time private practice on the Sunshine Coast since 2013 and has recently relocated his practice to The Solace Clinic in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. Having completed medical school at the University of Leeds in 2002, Sorab continued his training in the NHS in West Yorkshire where he was first exposed to the clinical haematology, before emigrating to South-East Queensland in 2006 where he underwent further general medical training before being accepted onto the Queensland Haematology training programme. Sorab completed training in both clinical and laboratory haematology at Princess Alexandra and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2013 and shortly after getting married, moved up to the Sunshine Coast where he has been located with his wife and four children ever since.
Sorab prides himself on an honest and practical approach to haematology in the 21st century, taking state-of-the-art haematology research and trials information from around the world and fusing them into real-world outcomes for patients on the Sunshine Coast.
Sorab interprets patient’s clinical symptoms and signs, integrates them with relevant investigations and formulates individual management plans that take into account every patient’s personal circumstances. No two patients are ever the same and you’ll be assured a holistic approach to assessment and treatment of your blood disorder based around your individual life goals.
Sorab treats all haematology conditions including malignant and non-malignant conditions with a focus on myeloma, lymphoma and leukaemias as well as myeloproliferative disorders, myelodysplastic conditions and other rarer blood disorders. Sorab runs a dedicated intravenous iron service and can supervise infusions for non-haematological conditions such as monoclonal infusions and immunoglobulin therapy.
When not striving for excellence beating blood conditions, Sorab can be found at home with his young family, or training for one last marathon. He enjoys good music, running with his Border Collie and looks forward to our home Olympics in 2032.
